We are looking for staff who are willing to contribute to the ongoing development of this project.You must have experience of working with adults with alcohol and substance misuse problems and challenging and difficult behaviour.We are looking for someone who can work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, which includes working a rota of early and late shifts, weekends and bank holidays.Due to the location, a driving licence is essential.

The SSJ Recovery Hub offers a wide range of interventions including one to ones, therapeutic group work, needle exchange and prescribing interventions to people recovering from problems with drugs and alcohol who are living in Portsmouth.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with this client group, knowledge of the impact of substance misuse on individuals, families and the wider community and be able to manage a client caseload safely and effectively. You will have an understanding of the criminal justice system such as prison throughcare, community orders and drug rehabilitation requirements and be happy to work alongside partner agencies such as probation. You will have managerial experience or be willing to take on the extra responsibility. You will work in a person-centred approach to support individuals who want to make changes to their lives by supporting them to access interventions that are important to them. Good risk management skills are essential, as well as a strong ability to build meaningful relationships with our service users. This will enable SSJ to deliver our purpose to create engaging opportunities for growth and development for employees and our service user’s alike. The role will be based at The Recovery Hub in Southsea but the work will also involve visiting clients in other services or in their own homes and regular meetings in the probation offices. This will be on a needs basis, as appropriate, and you will work within a flexible 37 hour working week. Some out of hours work may be necessary in order respond to an individual’s presenting needs. There will be some weekend working involving visiting the custody cells on a rota basis.

A good background of working with people with substance misuse issues would be desirable; however, transferable skills from working with other disadvantaged groups/individuals will be considered. An understanding of the various managerial styles would be advantageous as would experience of managing a diverse team. We are recruiting Care and Support Workers to join the team at the Society’s specialist CQC registered residential care home; St James Care. Experience and/or understanding of working with adults with alcohol and substance misuse problems are desirable but calm, caring, motivational and empathetic nature is essential.
You will need to have or be willing to work towards an NVQ Level 2 in Social Care (or equivalent) and/or be willing to work towards Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care, as this qualification is an essential requirement of the post.
Senior Shift Leader

St James Care wishes to recruit a Senior Shift Leader to join their current leadership team. We are a registered care home providing a safe and dignified home to people with long term alcohol issues as well as dementia or mental health issues. This is an exciting opportunity in a unique environment. You will work closely with both the Registered and Deputy Managers and current Senior Shift Leader, leading the shift and setting a positive example. You will take a lead on ensuring that day-to-day care happens in accordance with CQC regulations and liaising with external agencies to facilitate this.
You will report directly to the Deputy Manager and line-manage some staff.
You will also have a pivotal role in staff development and raising potential as well as continual quality improvement.
The Ideal Candidate
You will need to evidence that you have experience of managing staff and providing care to vulnerable people. The post involves working a rota in conjunction with the rest of the leadership team that includes one weekend in three, some late shifts and an out of hours on-call telephone support rota for which an additional payment is made.
Waking Night Support Worker - *Immediate Start*

The Society wishes to recruit a Waking Night Worker to work in the Southampton Homelessness Services, which provides a wide range of support to people with histories of homelessness, substance use, mental health and complex trauma.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the hostel is managed safely throughout the night, ensuring that a number of health and safety functions are fulfilled. You will also be responsible for responding to emergencies and dealing with the needs of clients during the night shift.
You will need to have knowledge of the issues people face with histories of homelessness, trauma, alcohol/substance use and mental health. You will be a supportive role model for the residents and a good team player for the team.
You will need to be prepared to be flexible over the hours worked to meet the needs of the Service
